What is ICE?
ICE (Inventory of Composable Elements) is an open registry platform originally developed at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI). It provides robust storage for DNA parts, plasmids, microbial strains, and seeds, along with tools for sequence annotation, search, and collaboration. In 2026, the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) and Agile BioFoundry (ABF) decided to migrate their public ICE registry entries and collections to TeselaGen's Community Edition, while their original ICE instances will be permanently shut down.
How to Access a Part
Each entry in the registry belongs to an institution and has a unique public ICE ID. To view details and access instructions for a specific part, navigate to:
For example, ice.teselagen.com/JBEI/entry/1 will show you the details for a public JBEI entry along with instructions to access it through the TeselaGen platform.
